Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery, Clinical Director
Mark graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1996 where he gained an interest in small animal orthopaedics and dedicated the majority of his final year to this study. Following a year in first opinion practice Mark moved to Beechwood Veterinary Hospital. In 2001 Mark gained the RCVS certificate in Small Animal Surgery achieving one of the highest marks of the year. He developed a busy referral case load both from within the practice and from practices throughout Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Mark has particular interest in the management of fractures and orthopaedic conditions in young dogs. He gained the RCVS Advanced Practitioner status in Small Animal Surgery in 2015.
Dr Lauren Goodwin BVSc MRCVS
Lauren graduated in 2010 from Bristol University and entered mixed practice in Hampshire progressing her interests to a majority small animal role. Lauren then moved to Doncaster to live with her partner and start at Beechwood Veterinary Hospital. She enjoys all areas of medicine and surgery particularly preventative medicine, dentistry and emergency and critical care. Recently Lauren has been developing her experience of exotic medicine particularly rabbits, guinea pigs, pet chickens and tortoises.
Outside of work Lauren has a rescue cat called Alfie and enjoys music, playing the piano, saxophone and clarinet; attending live music events in her free time.
Dr Suzy Hunt BVSc MRCVS
Suzy graduated from The University of Liverpool in July 2010. She started working in the Midlands at a busy small animal practice where she gained an interest in feline medicine and surgery. She then back to the North to be near her family. After having her daughter, Suzy returned to work and joined Beechwood in June 2016. Suzy has two cats, a tabby called Minxie and a ginger called Ozzy. In her spare time Suzy likes baking and ice-skating. She enjoy rides out with her husband on his motorbike and follow the British and World Superbike Championships.
Dr Alison Shearer BVetMed CertSAD MRCVS
Alison qualified in 1988 from the Royal Veterinary College. After a period in mixed and small animal practice Alison completed a residency in small animal dermatology at the Bristol Veterinary School. She gained the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Dermatology in 1994 and is a RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Dermatology. For the past 20 years she has provided a referral dermatology service to practices in Norfolk and Suffolk.
Dr John Suciu DVM MRCVS
John was born and raised in Transylvania, Romania. Medicine and science were his passions so he decided on vet school. After graduation in 2009 he worked for two years in one of the busiest small animal hospitals in Transylvania. Since 2011 he has been working in several practices across Yorkshire including a small animal referral hospital in West Yorkshire. In 2015 he got nominated for Vet of the Year. As his previous jobs where always far away from home he always wanted to be closer to his family so the opportunity to join Beechwood Vets came in 2018. John has an interest in all areas of veterinary medicine but he thrives on is dermatology and internal medicine.
Outside work his time is occupied by his family. Apart medicine, engineering and racing cars are his other big passions and enjoys tinkering on his cars all the time. He also enjoys cycling and finds Yorkshire a very beautiful and idyllic place.
Dr Aina Yndestad-Mace MRCVS
Aina, originally from Norway, graduated with the highest distinction from the Veterinary University of Budapest in November 2005. Shortly after she moved to South Yorkshire with her cat Mitzi to work for a group of small animal practices in Sheffield and Rotherham. Aina was awarded their vet of the year in her second year, after taking charge of her branch surgery.
In July 2014 Aina joined Beechwood Veterinary. Aina enjoys all aspects of general small animal practice, and besides ophthalmology has interests in anaesthesia, all forms of surgery and clinical nutrition. Outside of work Aina and her Yorkshire husband like to go for walks with their rescue dog, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier called George Bush.
